In November 2002 we replaced our original set of 11 mixed
size tables and chairs with 14 cast iron pedestal tables (with
3 mini legs underneath the pedestal to ensure a rock free
stability). We have 2 sets of tops. Complete sets of both
27" diameter (Ideal for St Valentine's Day) and 27" square
tops (Excellent for banquet style seating and wheelchairs)
plus a single 36" diameter top to make a 3, 4 or 5 seater
table. The design of the chairs is quite clever in that they
stack vertically without leaning forward until they fall over,
as happened with our previous ones.
This gives us 14 cosy round tables instead of 11 for St
Valentine's Day which is a great improvement. For most of
the year we have seven square topped tables and one 27"
diameter round topped table in the front restaurant which
allows us to seat up to 20 diners banquet style with a 12
seater and an 8 seater, the remaining round table being
used for storage. In the rear restaurant our standard layout
is for five 27" diameter tables and one 36" diameter table
providing seating for up to 15 diners. By fitting four of the
tables with square tops we can increase this to 17.
